Iran, China to jointly produce animated titles

China and Iran companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly produce animated works in the near future.

Two companies based in Iran and China have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to co-produce animated works in the short run.

The Chinese delegation signed the MoU during a Saturday visit to Iranian animation company Kafshdoozak with one delegation member noted that Iran and China should work on joint cultural projects as the two nations have a great deal of commonality in terms of culture.

Head of the Iranian company for his part said great potential exists in the case of animation production in the country with many Iranian young people currently working on large-scale national and international animation projects.

This comes as Iranian animated product ‘The Elephant King’ with the largest number of characters is slated to be screened soon in the country.

Produced by Iran-based Honar Pooya Group, the production team for the animation decided to withdraw from the 35 Fajr Film Festival to work more on the quality of the film.

Running for 90 mins and made in collaboration with a team of 150 professionals, the animated film has the largest number of characters among Iranian animations.

Honar Pooya Group promotes the motto of “Bring Your Children to Cinema with Peace of Mind”. The private sector company has already made the successful animated movie ‘Princess of Rome’. The film narrates the life of a Christian princess, Malika, mother of Muslim Imam, Imam al-Mahdi, and granddaughter of the Caesar of Rome.

Set in Africa, ‘The Elephant King’ narrates the story of an elephant who rules over its group like a king.

The queen bears him a son and everybody expects the son to replace his father as heir to the throne. The clumsy baby elephant, however, disappoints them all.

The animation will be dubbed into Persian, Arabic, English and French and screened internationally in a number of countries.
